North Carolina Governor's School Alumni Association
PRIVACY STATEMENT

The Governor's School Alumni Association prizes the privacy of its members, and seeks to maintain a balance between supporting members in their efforts to contact one another and preventing others from using our site to solicit members. To this effect, the folliwing restricitons on data availability are maintained.

  • The GSAA will NEVER sell or distribute its membership information to any outside organization for any purpose. We do not sell our contact information to direct marketers or any other third-party data vendor.
  • We will distribute, when requested by a member, a listing of the contact information for that member's GS class.
  • Address lists are made available to the Governor's Schools themselves and to the Governor's School Foundation for purposes of inviting alumni to events or soliciting alumni to support the Governor's School through letter-writing campaigns, volunteer opportunities, or direct contributions.
  • We will work to prevent the use of our global and class-specific mailing lists by direct marketers.

    Unfortunately, from time to time, direct marketers and internet address-harvesting spiders are able to glean addresses from our web pages for direct marketing uses. While such harvesters cannot access the addresses in our database or in the registration information for the BBS, they can get address information from our Contact list and from Links pages. If we could avoid this, we would, but technologically, there is no way to prevent such spiders from viewing our pages. The GSAA feels that the availability of these pages to the alumni is worth the risk of use by direct marketers.
