GSAA News: Minutes from the 6/26/98 Board of Governors Meeting

Important notes from the 6/26/98 Board of Governor's Meeting. (Details will be posted later.)

1. Chairman John Watts was chairing his last meeting, as his 6-year tenure on the Board came to an end. Dr. Wesley Guthrie was elected to the position.

2. Dan Gallimore, Director at West, has resigned effective June 30th. Lucy Milner, a member of the GSW faculty for 20 years, was appointed interim Director.

3. Lowell Harris (DPI) reported that an increase of $275,000 in the GS budget had been put in the DPI budget request. The request had gone to the Board of Education for approval. This sum is the difference between what was requested last year and what was eventually approved.

Dan Gallimore reported that the session was running well thus far, and that the additional $12,000 budget they had receieved had been used to pay for on-campus faculty's room and board at both schools, plus a small increase in the lease on the two host colleges.

Joanne Goetz and Jim Hart announced that plans for the 35th anniversary reunion were proceeding, but that they were not getting nearly the attendence that they had hoped.

The process of getting nominated to the Board was discussed, in hopes that more qualified alumni could be found to fill the positions.
